Garlic - It protects against heart disease and has antibiotic properties. Research shows that garlic can kill 60 fungi and 20 types of bacteria. It reduces cholesterol levels. Patients with coronary-artery disease who took garlic supplements had steadily declining levels of lipoproteins associated with heart disease, while those who did not take garlic showed no improvement.

Garlic is the only source of this compound. Allicin, the anti-bacterial, anti-fungal principal of garlic has been identified as garlic`s main medicinal element. Garlic helps to lower cholesterol by preventing fats from being oxidized and deposited in tissues and arteries and assists cardiovascular health. It is also a free-radical fighter as it contains antioxidant nutrients such as vitamins A and C, and selenium.

Various sulphur compounds in Garlic are responsible for its favorable effect on cardiovascular health. These significantly affect the biosynthesis of fatty acids, cholesterol, triglycerides and phospholipids. Ajoene, a garlic compound, has a potent anti-clotting effect. Garlic contains 754 parts per million (ppm) of Germanium - more than twice as much as Ginseng.

Germanium is an immune stimulant, an oxygen facilitator and a free radical blocker. Studies show that Germanium is effective for the treatment of burns and heart diseases. Allicin is another sulphur compound that gives garlic its antibiotic power. It works like penicillin but does not destroy friendly bacteria. Garlic also treats Candida Albicans, a yeast infection, nutritional deficiencies, constipation and stress.
