        ? What is the K1 Bio Media?

? When asked how to use K1 Media, the answer is quite simple--- let it mature in your filtration chamber.

? K1 bio media are widely used for pond water filtration and other water treatment activities. You just have to place in the media inside the filter chamber.

? But not all of us have the same chamber to filter system. However, the K1 Bio media is small enough to be placed in different kinds of filtration system.

         ? To ensure that you have the right number of K1 Bio Media in the chamber, we can use a K1 media calculator. It will calculate how much media are needed for the size of the filter.

? Once the K1 Bio Media is inside the chamber, the air from the pump pushes it to move around. As it moves around, the bad bacteria are displaced.

? Thus, the beneficial ones can now make a home in the media. These bacteria can flourish because the K1 Bio media expose them to nutrients from food and oxygen.

? And K1 Media is in white. It changes color over time due to the growth of the bacteria. The white color helps with visibility.


?The advantages of Mk1 Bio Media


? Large protected surface

Each of the K1 medium has a total surface area of 900 m2/m3 contained in an 11mm x 7mm wheel-like structure. It has four large compartments that can house a large number of bacteria. This surface area is also protected with the media’s built. In effect it helps the healthy colonization and build-up of the bacteria.


? Helps in removing ammonia and nitrite

Placed inside the filtration system, K1 media does not only provide a place for the growth of beneficial bacteria, also removes the ammonia and nitrite in the water.


? Self-cleansing capability

K1 filter media that are capable of cleansing itself. It is designed to move around the filtration system through the pump. Such movement shakes the media causing it to do its own cleaning mechanism.


? Can also be used as mechanical filtration

Mechanical and biological media filtration is the least minimum required for effective water treatment. The K1 bio media is may not be a substitute for mechanical filter media, but it has capacities for mechanical filtration.
