＊WHAT IS MENOPAUSE?
Chinese medicine believes that, from 42 onwards, the functions of a woman's liver and kidney begin to decline, and even weaker when approaching 50-- this is the stage of menopause-- disharmony of the yin and yang, deficiency in the vitalities of the qi, blood, liver and kidney. Menstrual disorder and lack of vitality are among the early indications of menopause. Menopause syndrome is a series of conscious and abnormal symptoms, which may bring negative effects to the quality of life and affect the efficiency in work. These symptoms vary in their severity and may arise on and off, with irregularity. These conditions may last for a few months, a year or two, or may continue for several years, disturbing the normal life or work.

什么是更年期？
中医认为，女性的肝肾气血，从42岁就开始逐渐衰退，到50岁左右，就处于衰弱的状态了。这一阶段就是所谓的更年期。阴阳失调、气血不足、肝肾亏虚，就是症结所在。女性40岁以后，如果出现了月经不调、精神衰退等不适的症状，正是更年期前的“预”症状，应及时调养。既然更年期是一个自然的生命过程，那就不难通过调节身体机体来顺利度过。但是如果不重视，或者在这个阶段不注意治疗和保养，就会导致身体肝肾受损伤，引起严重的疾病。

什么是更年期综合症？
更年期综合症- 是在更年期这个年龄阶段出现的一系列自觉、异常的症候群，进而影响工作效率和生活质量的一种病态，即称为更年期综合症。大部分妇女在更年期部分有轻重不一的症状，有者轻松度过，有者则面对比较严重的煎熬，甚至影响家庭幸福。 妇女在绝经前后，肾气渐衰，冲任二脉虚衰、天癸渐竭，月经将断而至绝经；生殖能力降低而至消失。

此本是妇女正常的生理变化，但有些妇女由于身体差异及生活环境等的影响，不能适应这个阶段的生理过渡，导致阴阳不平衡，脏腑气血不相协调，因而出现一系列证候。

这当中的主要现象包括头晕目眩、烘热汗出、心悸失眠、烦躁易怒、咽干口苦、潮热、耳鸣；或面目、下肢浮肿、胃口差（纳呆）、便溏（水便）；或月经紊乱、情志不宁等等，称为更年期综合症。这些证候往往轻重不一，参差出现，持续时间或长或短，短者一年半载，长者迁延数年，甚至可影响生活或工作。
