Deskripsi Produk

This, also known as M&P soap, glycerin soap or just soap base, is remeltable under heat. This soap base is a ready soap on it's own so you can use it right out of the box. It is made of 100% vegetable oils (NO animal fat!). Making soap from this soap base as easy as the name suggest, just MELT and POUR.

Attached here is a simple tutorial video and written instruction. If you are adventurous and wish to get more ideas for designs of your soaps (such as playing with layers, scrubs etc) feel free to browse more videos on YouTube.

STEP 1 - MELT THE SOAP BASE

Cut the soap base to mahjong size or smaller strips for easy melting. Place in a cup/ bowl and apply heat to melt the soap base. It is recommended to use microwave OR double-boiler to melt the soap base.

Melting in Microwave: 30-90 seconds on low or until fully melted

Melting in Double Boiler: Place a bowl of cut soap base on top of a pot of boiling water until fully melted

**Do not OVERHEAT the soap base. On microwave, use low power. Overheating may cause the soap to "sweat" a lot more than it should after it is removed from mould.**

STEP 2 - ADD ADDITIVES TO THE MELTED SOAP **OPTIONAL STEP**

Stir in additives to the melted soap if desired (skip this step if you do not want to add anything to the soap). Recommended amount of additives is 3% of the soap base amount (or less). Example for a 100g soap base, add a maximum of 3g additives. Too much additives may cause the soap to turn funky (does not firm up, too wet and oily, too grainy etc).

Suggestion of additives:-

  • Skin-safe colouring
  • Skin-safe fragrance oil
  • Essential oil (lavender, lemongrass, peppermint etc)
  • Base Oil/ Butter (this will reduce lather and shorten the soap's lifespan, avoid if you can)
  • Other liquids (honey, collagen, etc - those that will not rot in the soap)
  • Sugar/ Salt (to make sugar/ salt scrub, stir in just enough of the sugar/ salt to mix them into the soap, note that salt will reduce lather)
  • Dried herbs or powder (rosemary, mint, kaolin clay, activated charcoal powder etc)
  • Loofah (sliced or blended into powder/ flakes, can be scratchy if the loofah is too old and hard)

**Do NOT add too much additives, may cause the soap to turn funky.

**Beware of additives that will rot in short period of time such as fresh fruit chunks/ fruit juices. Another popular example is BREAST MILK (highly NOT recommended) which will smell funny when not refrigerated, it will smell in the soap if the soap is not used up immediately after it is made.

STEP 3 - POUR INTO MOULD

Choose your preferred mould, pour the melted soap base into the mould and spray the top with rubbing alcohol to get rid of air bubbles (this is optional if you don't mind some air bubbles in your soap). If the soap base has already firmed up a little before you pour, heat it up again for a short while just enough to melt.

Once the soap cooled down to room temperature and firmed up (after about 1 hour) in the mould, remove the soap from the mould and the soap is ready to use. If not in use, wrap the soap in cling film to prevent the soap from sweating. High glycerin content in the soap will draw moisture from the air, which is good for the skin, but will cause "sweats" on the soap.

**Do NOT rush to cool down the soap by putting into fridge as this will cause the soap to "sweat" even more!

Q: Can I add base oil to the soap? (eg. olive oil, coconut oil, etc)
