SDS Plus Hammer Drill Bits fit in simple spring-loaded chucks, so that bits are simply pushed into the chuck without tightening. SDS Hammer Drill Bits are well suited to hammer drilling with masonry drills in stone and concrete, specifically working well with rotary hammer drills that have an SDS compatible chuck. SDS Plus Hammer Drill Bits, they are designed for heavier masonry work. These bits are often commonly referred to simply as a concrete drill bit, masonry drill bit or hammer drill bit.

The SDS drill bit is not held solidly by the drill's chuck but instead moves like a piston, sliding back and forth while secured by the chuck. The SDS Plus shank ensures no rotational slipping of the bit, locking in the chuck of the drill used. SDS bits both reciprocate and turn simultaneously, requiring little effort from the user for most projects. However, pushing down on the drill when it's unnecessary will slow the drilling process and wear the bit down faster.

The Tungsten Carbide tip provides greater durability and hardness to the bit head making them tougher and more resistant to extreme loads. SDS Plus Drill Bits feature a Copper / Silver Brazing and a heat-treated body for maximum hardness allowing them to be used on even reinforced concrete.
