Naturium's latest sensorial, multi-oil hydrating body wash transforms from a luscious oil to a gentle lather, cleansing without stripping the skin of essential moisture. Formulated with over 50% glycerin, a blend of linoleic-rich oils and plant-derived squalane, this transformative body cleanser is rich in humectants that hydrate and intensely nourish skin.

Glycerin is hygroscopic and draws moisture to the skin while limiting irritation by reducing surfactant-skin interaction. Surfactant molecules aggregate in aqueous solution to form micelles. A micelle is a spherical ball of surfactant molecules oriented with hydrophobic tails interacting and hydrophilic heads interacting. These micelles are responsible for cleansing and bring impurities and oily substances into the core where they can be removed upon dilution of water. These micelles can penetrate the skin and cause irritation from protein denaturation and skin dryness from solubilizing crucial skin lipids.

Glycerin hinders the ability of surfactant micelles to penetrate into the skin barrier through the stratum corneum’s aqueous pores. A study showed that the addition of only 10% glycerin was able to reduce the radius and pore number density of these aqueous pores, preventing micelles from penetrating and disturbing the skin.

 

How to use:

Apply a generous amount onto hands, washcloth or loofah and massage into skin. For added benefits, leave on for a few minutes. Rinse thoroughly.
