PRODUCT DESCRIPTIONS:
Prospan Cough Syrup is a natural product and contains an active ingredient which is purely herbal. Prospan is effective for relief of cough with phlegm and throat irritation.

COMPOSITIONS:
100mL of solution contains:
0.7g of Hedera Helix Extract (dried Ivy Leaf Extract) from leaf (5 - 7.5: 1)
0.134g of Potassium Sorbate (as Preservative)
2.5mL of solution contains 0.963g of sugar substitute sorbitol = 0.08 BU
No added Alcohol, Sugar or Colouring

PHARMACOLOGICAL ACTION:
Prospan relaxes and calms coughing. It combats the typical complaints of increased formation of viscous mucus, shortness of breath and irritation of the throat. Troublesome and painful coughing is calmed, but not blocked, which is important for being able to cough up the mucus and thereby allow for trouble-free deep breathing.

INDICATIONS:
Traditionally used for relief of cough, throat irritation and reducing phlegm.

ADVERSE REACTIONS:
In rare cases, Prospan Cough Syrup may have a laxative effect due to the content of sorbitol in the product.

PRECAUTIONS:
THIS IS A TRADITIONAL MEDICINE
» Please consult your pharmacist/ doctor if symptoms persist/ worsen.
» In the event of frustose intolerance, treatment should be carried out only after consultation with a doctor.

PREGNANCY AND BREAST-FEEDING:
» Insufficient reliable data. This medicine should not be used, as there have not been enough studies performed on pregnant women and mothers who breastfeed.

DOSAGE:
SHAKE WELL BEFORE USE
Unless otherwise prescribed,
» Children (1-5 years): take 2.5mL of solution 3 times daily
» Schoolchildren (6-9 years): and adolescents (>10 years): take 5mL of solution 3 times daily
» Adults: take 5.0 - 7.5mL of solution 3 times daily
Can be taken with or without food.

DURATION OF USE:
» Duration of treatment depends on the type and severity; however treatment should last for at least one week.
» Treatment with Prospan Cough Syrup should be maintained for 2-3 days after symptoms have subsided, in order to ensure lasting success of therapy.
» In the event of persistant complaints of the appearance of shortness of breath, fever as well as purulent or bloody expectoration, a doctor should be consulted immediately.
