Today's vehicles are usually equipped with a hydraulic clutch actuation. Under its LuK brand, Schaeffler has significantly advanced the development of hydraulic clutch actuation technology and offers all components of the release system for the independent market in case of a defect. These include slave cylinders, master cylinders, release bearings / clutch slave cylinder and hydraulic pressure pipes.


Clutch master cylinder

When the driver pushes the clutch pedal down, the master cylinder converts pedal force into pressure. Besides this basic task, a modern clutch master cylinder contributes to a host of other vehicle attributes. It plays a role in supporting improved safety, comfort and throttle response. Also it allows functionalities such as cruise control, starter-interlock system, the electric parking brake, torque adjustment and even the start-stop system.


Peak limiter

Another intelligent installation element is the peak limiter. It reduces the volume flow in the hydraulic system during very sporty driving with fast clutch operations. This is intended to prevent overloading of the powertrain with a sudden start, e.g. also when slipping off the clutch pedal. Peak limiter should never be removed from the hydraulic system during maintenance, as doing so can result in consequential damage to the driveshafts, the dual mass flywheel (DMF) or even the gearbox.
