Inspired by the lotus root, water turbulence is created for optimal flow through the media in all directions.
The lotus root structure is extremely porous, providing the maximum surface area for the growth of nitrifying bacteria. Furthermore, the internal oxygen-deficient surface favors the development of anaerobic bacteria, thus completes the nitrogen cycle by eliminating ammonia, nitrite and nitrate.
