Maltofer Fol chewable tablet contains 100mg of iron and 0.35mg folic acid and other ingredients Iron is an essential component of haemoglobin, myoglobin and of the iron-containing enzymes. Folic acid is an important vitamin for the development of the unborn child. A deficiency of folic acid in the first few weeks of pregnancy can lead to malformations in the child. Indications / Uses Maltofer Fol chewable tablets are a combination preparation containing iron and folic acid. They are used for the treatment and prevention of iron deficiency with increased need for folic acid during pregnancy and lactation Dosage / Direction for Use Maltofer Fol chewable tablets can be chewed or swallowed whole and should be taken during or directly after a meal. For the treatment of iron deficiency without anemia as well as to meet and increased need for folic acid: 1 chewable tablet once daily For treatment of iron deficiency with anemia as well as to meet an increased need for folic acid: chewable tablet 2-3 times daily. Once the haemoglobin blood values have returned to normal, treatment with 1 chewable tablet daily will be continued until the end of pregnancy in order to meet the increased need for iron and to replenish the iron stores. The dose and duration of treatment depend on the extent of the iron deficiency. The exact duration of treatment is determined by the doctor in each case. If taking Maltofer Fol is forgotten, just take the next dose at the usual time. Do not take a double dosage to compensate for the forgotten dose. Kepp to the dosage as stated or as prescribed by the doctor. If thinking that the effect of this maltofer for is too strong or too weak, talk to the doctor or pharmacist. Use in Pregnancy & Lactation If pregnant, trying to become pregnant or breastfeeding, only take Maltofer Fol after consultation with the doctor
