(1) Connect the battery to the controller. It is recommended to add an air switch between the controller and the battery to protect the controller and the battery. When the controller is connected to the battery, the LCD screen will display the parameters, and then set the battery type.

(2) If you need DC output to control the load, set the output control mode first, and then turn on the DC output disconnect switch.

MPPT Solar Charge Controller Four Charging Modes:

Bulk Charge Mode: In this mode, the controller extracts the maximum power from the solar panels using MPPT technology and quickly delivers the energy to the battery. The charger provides the maximum charging current to bring the battery to a certain voltage level, typically close to its maximum charging voltage. The goal of this stage is to quickly charge the battery and provide the required energy.

Boost Charge Mode: Once the battery approaches a full state of charge, the controller switches to the absorption charge mode. In this mode, the charger charges the battery at a slightly higher voltage than the battery's float voltage to ensure that the battery is fully charged and its maximum capacity is restored. The absorption charge mode typically has a lower charging current to avoid overcharging. During this stage, the controller maintains a constant voltage to ensure complete charging.

Float Charge Mode: Once the battery is fully charged and has gone through a period of absorption charging, the controller switches to the float charge mode. In this mode, the controller maintains a constant float voltage to keep the battery's capacity and state of charge. The purpose of float charging is to prevent overcharging or over-discharging of the battery and extend its lifespan.

Equalization Charge Mode: The equalization charge mode is a special charging mode aimed at eliminating sulfation and balancing the charge among individual batteries in the battery bank. This charging mode provides pulses of slightly higher than normal charging voltage for a period of time to restore the battery's performance and capacity. Equalization charging needs to be performed periodically to ensure the balance and proper functioning of the battery bank.
