Chrysocolla has a cyan (blue-green) color and is a minor ore of copper, having a hardness of 2.5 to 7.0. It is of secondary origin and forms in the oxidation zones of copper ore bodies. Associated minerals are quartz, limonite, azurite, malachite, cuprite, and other secondary copper minerals.


鳳凰(Phoenix)，中國古代傳說中的百鳥之王、祥瑞之獸，和龍一樣為漢族的民族圖騰。鳳凰是雌雄統稱，雄為鳳，雌為凰，總稱鳳凰。鳳凰，吉祥和諧的象徵，是一種代表幸福的靈物，祥瑞之兆。


鳳凰石又名硅孔雀石（chrysocolla），它的顏色碧綠美麗，是一種水合銅硅酸鹽礦物。在很多銅礦地區都會都會存在這種由銅礦分解而成的礦物，這是因爲銅礦遇到含二氧化硅的水而發生化學變化而產生的。硅孔雀石具有美麗的綠（或淺綠藍）色，人們利用這一特點，把它當作裝飾材料。


由於硅孔雀石石英的華麗，所以它收到了追捧。有時爲了簡便起見，則以硅孔雀石石英（Chrysocolla Quartz）代稱這類硅化寶石，而不管組成之内是否可明顯看出硅孔雀石的成份。色彩繽紛的硅化寶石是很受歡迎的，但當硅孔雀石與石英完全融合，呈現出藍綠色清澈的寶石。


鳳凰石能治療關節炎、骨骼疾病、肌肉痙攣、消化道疾病、潰瘍、血液病與肺病，並爲人體的肝髒、腎和腸祛除毒素；它能重新氧化血液與肺部的細胞，增大肺容量，加強呼吸的功能；使胰腺得以再生，調節胰島素的分泌：加強甲狀腺機能；降低血壓，促進血液循環與新陳代謝；加強肌肉力量，緩解肌肉抽觔，減輕關節疼痛。

鳳凰石還具有冷卻作用，因而可以緩解燒傷，治療感染，特别是喉嚨和扁桃腺的感染。此外，這種寶石對女性最爲有益，能治療經前綜合征和痛經。在靈性上，據說它可以消除遺傳瘴毒。
