OPSITE FLEXIGRID is a transparent film dressing, comprised of a polyurethane film with acrylic adhesive. The film is supported on a flexible grid carrier to provide a simple application system.
When used on wounds, the OPSITE film creates a moist environment by retaining exudate. The film is moisture vapour permeable, allowing excess exudate to evaporate and preventing skin maceration. OPSITE FLEXIGRID is waterproof and aids in the prevention of bacterial contamination in the wound. The film is highly extensible and conformable and is easily adaptable to awkward areas. The grid carrier can be used to map wounds to monitor the healing process.
OPSITE FLEXIGRID is indicated for:
• The management of superficial wounds (e.g. minor burns, scalds, abrasions, lacerations and leg ulcers in the final stage of healing).
• The protection of skin from friction and external contamination. For prophylaxis against pressure sores.
• The retention of primary dressings e.g. INTRASITE™ Gel, ALLEVYN™ Cavity, ALLEVYN Non-Adhesive.
• The fixation of catheters.
• The protection of skin around stoma and under leg bags.
• The dressing of post-operative wounds, skin grafts and donor sites.
If the wound becomes infected, infection should be treated as per local clinical protocol. For blisters take extra care when removing the dressing, as the top layer of the skin on the blister is very fragile. This layer of skin may come off if the dressing has not been left in place very long. Care should be taken to avoid skin damage on repeated applications on patients with thin or fragile skin. In common with all adhesive products some cases of irritation and/or maceration of the skin surrounding the wound have been reported. It should be noted that inappropriate use or too frequent dressing changes, particularly in patients with fragile skin, can result in skin stripping. During the body’s normal healing process, unnecessary material is removed from the wound which will make the wound appear larger after the first few dressing changes. If the wound continues to get larger after the first few dressing changes, discontinue use and consult a healthcare professional. Should any signs of irritation (reddening, inflammation), maceration (over-hydration of the skin), hypergranulation (excess tissue) or sensitivity (allergic reactions) appear, discontinue use and consult a healthcare professional.
Instruction for use
1. Clean and dry the application area.
2. Remove the backing paper.
3. Apply the dressing, remove the side tab and smooth down.
4. If required trace the wound on the green squared carrier before removing.
5. Remove the carrier.
6. To remove the dressing, lift one corner and gently stretch parallel to the skin. The dressing may be left in place for up to 14 days. Handle and dispose of the used dressing with care.
