【Q&A】
When can I hear the fetal heartbeat?
The fetal heartbeat starts forming at 8 weeks and can be detected using a medical device
Some mothers might be able to hear it at 10 weeks, and the majority at 12 weeks
Most mothers can hear it at 16 weeks, and at 28 weeks when the fetus has fully developed, you can increase the monitoring time
Does the probe show values when it touches the arm or other areas?
When the device is turned on,the probe may sense air movement, and when it touches the arm or thigh,it may generate interference signals
This can cause the speaker to emit interference noise and numbers
The device can't distinguish between interference signals and fetal heart signals at this point
It's recommended to use the suggested detection positions or follow the doctor's instructions for placing the probe, then slowly move it to search carefully after finding the fetal heart position
After accurately locating the fetal heart, avoid moving the probe, and after about 5 seconds, when the signal stabilizes, the fetal heart rate reading will be accurate
What if I can't find the fetal heartbeat?
Some first-time pregnant mothers may have difficulty finding or locating the fetal heartbeat
It could be due to the pregnancy being at an early stage
Make sure there is enough coupling agent applied to the probe, and patiently search for the optimal measurement position
Practice will make it easier over time
During early pregnancy (14-24 weeks),the fetal heart is often found along the midline just below the navel or on either side
As the fetus grows, the fetal heart's location will also move upward
In mid-pregnancy (24-32 weeks),the fetal heart is generally found on the left side of the navel, and on the right side if you feel frequent fetal movements on the left
In late pregnancy (32-40 weeks),the fetal heart sound is transmitted from the baby's shoulder blades and is clearest when heard on the mother's abdominal wall, near the baby's back
Why is there noise during use?
Home fetal heart monitors use the Doppler principle, which amplifies and spreads any vibrations to hear the baby's faint heartbeat
When the device is turned on,the probe may sense air movement and generate some noise, especially when it's in contact with the skin and producing more significant vibrations, which may result in some noise
The fetal heart monitor can also pick up sounds like intestinal movement
Using a coupling agent can significantly reduce air interference, and once you've found the fetal heart position,it will become clear
When is the best time to measure, and how often per week?
It's recommended to monitor three times a day—within 30 minutes after waking up,within 60 minutes after lunch, and 30 minutes before bedtime, each time for 1-3 minutes
For pregnant women after 28 weeks, when the fetus is fully developed, you can increase the monitoring time and frequency
How do you measure for twins? Is it more challenging?
Typically, you'll need two fetal heart monitors with different probe frequencies, one using 2MHz and the other using 3MHz. This will prevent interference
It's challenging to distinguish between twin heart rates,so it's best to consult a doctor for guidance
Can I use the device without coupling agent?
You can use water, olive oil, edible oil,or baby oil as substitutes to prevent air interference and reduce noise
Will daily monitoring have any negative impact on the fetus?
Regular monitoring is not harmful
The ultrasound intensity of qualified products is far below the national limits
