As a young girl growing up, she confided in her diary the confusion of constant conflict with her mother and her curiosity about sex. At the same time, the record of 25 months' secret life, which was full of terror and hiding, also made Anne's diary an eyewitness report of the miserable life of the people under the German occupation. The last entry in Anne's diary is dated August 1, 1944. At the end of the war, Anne's father Otto Frank decided to fulfill her daughter's dream and publish her diary.

I’ll begin from the moment I got you, the moment I saw you lying on the table among my other birthday presents. (I went along when you were bought, but that doesn’t count.)
On Friday, June 12, I was awake at six o’clock, which isn’t surprising, since it was my birthday. But I’m not allowed to get up at that hour, so I had to control my curiosity until quarter to seven. When I couldn’t wait any longer, I went to the dining room, where Moortje (the cat) welcomed me by rubbing against my legs.
