What does Fei Cui mean?

In Chinese, jadeite is called "Fei Cui", which is a bird's name. This bird has brightly-coloured feathers. The male bird has red feathers, while the female bird has green feathers. Jadeite from Myanmar comes in a variety of colours, especially green colours, and people usually call Myanmar jadeite "jadeite (Fei Cui)".


缅甸玉的称呼翡翠玉，主要产于缅北猛拱一带，曾在明末清初开始风行。由于翡翠玉结构高（也称冰种），光洁明亮。且好的翡翠颜色既鲜亮又平和，故而人称“玉中之王”。
