Having worked with pets in 3 different countries and for more than 3 decades, we’ve found that urinary tract infections (UTIs) are the most neglected pet health issue in Malaysia. It’s not clear why that is the case. That a UTI is rarely life-threatening may be part of it, as well as how most UTIs in pets are bacterial in nature (as opposed to the usual yeast UT infection in humans), which means there are usually no discharge or other obvious physical signs of UTI.

It may also be that some pet owners don’t know what to look for, even though untreated UTI can lead to kidney disease and stones. Keep an eye out for the following symptoms of UTI (male dogs/cats can get it too):
- Abnormally smelly urine
- Urine looks off, very cloudy, dark or blood-stained
- Having to pee more often
- Reluctant to urinate. Dogs pee every time they go outside, but dogs with UTI may choose to pee only when they have to…
- Continuing from above, that’s because it’s painful or uncomfortable to pee. Your pet may whine when peeing or lick the private area right away after peeing
- Peeing in unusual places. Cats/dogs can get confused by the condition and pee outside the litter box or inside the house
- Rubbing on the ground (female pets)
- Fever, fatigue and other signs of a more advanced infection

Pets can overcome a UTI on their own. Unfortunately, once a dog/cat develops a UTI, he/she is almost certain to get it again. About 15-20% of cats and dogs will get a UTI at least once in their lives.

With Pala-Tech’s Cranberry Plus, you can now do something to help your pet easily and effectively.

How does it work?
The main ingredient is cranberry extract, scientifically proven to protect the bladder (lining and mucus) against bacteria that cause UTI. Its presence creates an environment that causes any bacteria to get flushed out of the UT with urine instead of causing an infection. For good measure, it also contains Oregon grape root that has an antibacterial alkaloid compound and echinacea and vitamin C that elevate your pet’s immune system.

Can it actually cure UTI?
Yes, the Pala-Tech Cranberry Plus makes the UT an unwelcoming place for bacteria. Your pet’s immune system will then overcome the infection. But this doesn’t mean that giving your pet a 5-day course of antibiotic won’t speed up the recovery.
Remember that pets that have a UTI once will most likely get it again. Some become chronic UTI sufferers. Giving your pet 2 or 3 doses of Cranberry Plus every week can stave off and prevent another UTI.
