Do cats really need a daily multivitamin?
Not really, if you’re feeding your cat a quality brand of dry cat food. It should contain more vitamins and minerals per kg than the equivalent dog food.
With that said, besides just vitamins and minerals, the VetriScience Nu Cat (NC) and Nu Cat Senior (NCS) also contain:
- omega-3s (fish oil) and -6s (linoleic acid) for skin and coat health
- inositol for enhanced cognitive function
- essential amino acids like arginine, methionine and taurine that cats are either inefficient at or incapable of breaking down from protein sources

Who is it for?
Consider getting Vetriscience NC or NCS if:
1. You are feeding your cat home-cooked meals that may not have all the necessary vitamins/minerals
2. You recently adopted a stray cat
3. Your cat’s immune system seems off, like if you cat develops frequent skin or other infections
4. Your cat is getting older, as nutrient absorption and the kidneys’ filtration efficiency tend to decline with age
5. You simply love your cat so much that you want to be absolutely sure

What’s the difference between Nu Cat and Nu Cat Senior?
NCS is recommended for cats aged 8/9 years or older. NCS:
- 60 chewable tablets per container (vs 90 for the regular NC)
- Lower price to account for the above difference
- Added L-lysine (the regular NC has none). L-lysine is a proven immune booster for cats especially with respect to respiratory health
- Higher amounts of each B vitamin. These vitamins are involved in almost every bodily function. Cats that have enough B-vitamins in their systems are undeniably healthier and happier. And since cats and kidney issues go hand in hand, filtration efficiencies will decline for all senior cats (even though only about 30% would develop a clinical case of CKD), resulting in the leakage of all B-vitamins. You can make up for those losses by giving your beloved cat Nu Cat Senior.
