Deskripsi Produk
Mānuka honey contains five major flavonoids including luteolin, quercetin, galangin, pinocembrin, and chrysin just like anthocyanins that are found in blueberries and curcumin found in turmeric. There is still lots more research to do on these but it is super exciting that this liquid gold contains beneficial plant compounds

WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN MGO AND UMF?
These two are like yin and yang. But let’s start with MGO or Methylglyoxal (see, that’s why we shorten it to MGO). MGO is the main antibacterial compound in Manuka Honey. Naturally occurring, it’s the bee's knees when it comes to health benefits of the honey. The higher the MGO, the higher the potency of the honey

SO WHAT’S UMF™?

UMF (or Unique Manuka Factor) is a rigorous test developed by the UMF Honey Association that further certifies the authenticity of Manuka honey. It takes into account, not only MGO but also two other compounds unique to Manuka honey. These are Leptosperin and DHA

And the UMF number you ask? The UMF number is based on the amount of MGO. For example, honey containing 263 mg/kg or more of MGO has a UMF number of 10+  and honey containing 829 mg/kg or more of MGO has a UMF number of 20+

Rules of thumb for choosing a manuka honey grade
Choosing a grade of manuka honey isn’t an exact science but here are some rules of thumbs you can use when choosing a grade of manuka honey:

1.Use low grade manuka honey for non-medicinal uses
2.Use a minimum of UMF 10+ for medicinal uses
3.Use a high grade manuka honey if the honey will be diluted

1.Use low grade manuka honey for non-medicinal uses
As I mentioned previously, if you’re using manuka honey non-medicinally, it’s not essential that it has antibacterial activity.

Generally, I’d recommend a low grade manuka honey as there isn’t much benefit in spending the extra money on a high grade manuka if you’re using it non-medicinally.

Specifically, I’d go for a UMF 5+, MGO 30+

Try make sure it’s raw manuka honey, though. This will ensure the highest levels of beneficial antioxidants and enzymes.

2. Use a minimum of UMF 10+ for medicinal uses
Grades below UMF 10+ don’t have significant levels of antibacterial activity.

So, if you’re using it medicinally, the lowest grade you should be looking for is UMF 10+.

3. Use a high grade manuka honey if the honey will be diluted
Like most things, manuka honey is less effective when it’s diluted.

If the manuka honey is diluted enough, it loses its antibacterial activity completely.

Common ways manuka honey gets diluted:

Eating it (gets diluted in your stomach)
Mixing the honey with other ingredients
To maintain the antibacterial activity when diluting the honey, use a higher grade of manuka honey (like a UMF 15+ or UMF 20+).
