Indications:

Restors Oral Powder helps to restore fluid and electrolyte loss and prevent dehydration due to diarrhoea, vomiting and gastroenteritis.



Pharmacology:

Restors Oral Powder is aimed to rehydrate the patient due to continuing diarrhoea and vomiting and normal losses from respiration, sweating and frequent urination. It contains a balanced combination of electrolytes (sodium, potassium and chloride) and glucose in water to stimulate fluid and electrolyte absorption into the body. Electrolytes are essential for restoring the ionic equilibrium. Citrate helps is to correct or prevent metabolic acidosis that occurs as a result of diarrhoea and enhances the absorption of sodium. Glucose is a carbohydrate source to maximize the absorption of fluid and electrolytes.



Dosage and admistration:

To prepare: Dissolve the content of 1 sachet in 200ml of drinking water and stir well.



For mild to moderate dehydration: Initial rehydration should be rapid, over 3 to 4 hours, unless the patient is hypernatraemic, in which case rehydration over 12 hours is appropriate. If symptoms persist or worsen, seek medical assistance.



Children: 1 sachet for every loose motion or as directed by healthcare professional.



Adults: 1 to 2 sachets for every loose motion or as directed by healthcare professional.



For severe dehydration: Seek medical attention immediately. The dehydration may be corrected by parenteral fluids initially and followed by oral maintenance.



Active Ingredients:

Each sachet contains:

Sodium Chloride BP ….. 520mg

Potassium Chloride BP ….. 300mg

Trisodium Citrate Dihydrate BP ….. 580mg

Glucose Anhydrous BP ….. 2700mg

The ionic concentration (mmol/L): Sodium 74, Chloride 65, Potassium 20, Citrate 10 and Glucose 75.

Total osmolarity is 244mOsm/L.



Product Descriptions:

White fine powder with lemon lime flavour and is colourless when dissolved in water. This product does not contain sodium saccharin, colouring agent and preservative.
