The Love Hypothesis: The Tiktok sensation and romcom of the year!
Although this book did have the brooding, but hot main guy and hot mess cliche, and the twists were predictable, this book is a solid 5. It is really well-written, flowed smoothly, and there wasn't a boring part in any chapter of the book. You come to relate with the MC and her friends. I also really liked that it was set against the STEM background. I did feel like most of the problems could have been avoided with some communication, but then most romance books would be some chapters short (also, in real life, a lot of people don't communicate as well as they should, either.)
This is easily one of my top romance books.

Love on the Brain : From the bestselling author of The Love Hypothesis
As an engineer who has worked on two NASA ISS research missions and did space radiation research as an undergrad, reading this book was such a weird experience. I’ve been part of the NASA community for 3 years, and have had tours of both NIH and the Johnson Space center from collaborators. It was funny reading a story about places I’ve been to and communities I’ve been apart of. Now I’m moving onto grad school, switching gears to study neural imaging. (I didn’t take the GRE because the schools I applied to didn’t require it and no way was I gonna spend money on it). But what made it weird to me, also made it such a uniquely relatable experience. The struggles of collaboration and separating your work and love life… it was just all too relatable. It’s hard not to fall in love with someone you work with in STEM when you think intelligence is attractive. A little predictable, but still a great book and worth reading!

Ali Hazelwood is the queen of he falls first and he’s obsessed, while she is absolutely clueless to his feelings foe a majority of the book, and I am HERE for this microtrope!!!!

Dr. Elsie Hannaway is a struggling adjunct professor who has the chance of a lifetime to interview for a dream job at MIT. Elsie is great at interviews though, she has the ability to read what other people want from her and give the version of Elsie they want. That is, until Dr. Jonathon Smith-Turner, or as she knows him, Jack. She can get absolutely no read on him. Not only that, he’s her academic nemesis, and he just so happens to be on the interview committee. Can she figure out what version of herself will get her the job, or will she allow the true version of herself to be enough for the first time?

Ali Hazelwood knocked it out of the park with this book. I always come away from reading her books a smarter person. Partly because I look up the scientific vocabulary so I can know what’s going on… 😂 But also because I feel like I come away a better person after reading her books. In this book, Elsie is truly scared of giving the true version of herself to anyone because what happens if she’s just not enough. She is a people pleaser to the max, and I can relate to that.
