Sulfox and DermaBenSS are made in the same factory in Florida.

FACT #1 One particularly stubborn type of fungal infection has a strong odor as it infects your pet’s sebaceous gland, causing it to release excessive sebum/oil. This is why the smell will return right after shampooing if the infection is bad.

FACT #2 Regular antifungal shampoo (Malaseb, Veterinary Formula Antifungal etc.) contains an antifungal that stops the growth of fungi. It will depend on your pet’s immune system to actually kill the fungi. The problem is that your pet should not have developed yeast or fungal dermatitis in the first place if he or she has a normal immune system. This is usually futile, especially in Southeast Asia where fungi thrive in the heat and humidity. What you need is…

A shampoo that can actually kill fungus – PHS Sulfox (strongest) or Dechra DermaBenSS (an extra active ingredient):
- 3% Benzoyl Peroxide (2.5% for DermaBenSS): the powerful astringent properties remove skin oil and flush the follicles to keep your pet’s skin free of oil for up to a week. If there’s no oil on the skin and you can keep your pet dry, the fungus will starve to death (see FACT #1)
- 2% Sulfur (1% DermaBenSS): this helps kill fungi and more importantly, the spores so they can’t spread
- 2% Salicylic Acid (1% DermaBenSS): this relieves itching, reduces irritation and redness, prevents scaling, improves and heals elephant skin (if your pet has a severe prolonged infection, the skin will get thick and rough like elephant skin)
- Ceramides (DermaBenSS only): these create a skin barrier to moisturize and restore damaged skin and may also block off new infection

What Can You Expect with Sulfox or DermaBenSS:
1) The odor will go away for up to a week. Shampoo your pet again when it returns. When healed, there will be no more smell
2) Your dog will scratch a lot less until eventually no more itching. The skin will improve until normal again
3) The black or green yeast/fungal infection spots will become lighter in color until eventually gone (note: some dark scarring can be permanent)
4) The balding area (caused by infection) will start to grow fur again. Thin fur at first but your pet will regain a full coat of fur

How Long Will It Take?
This treatment is not popular in western countries because it takes longer. But it is the only reliable method in hot and humid SE Asia (took us years of trial and error to discover). It may take up to 3 months for a severe infection. You can speed it up by giving your pet a regimen of antifungal medication like itraconazole or Inox once a day for 14 days. The dosage per day is 5-10mg per kg of weight. This is why we’re offering Sulfox and DermaBenSS with or without 14x Inox. Please check variations when you order.
