This is the new Douxo S3 PYO antifungal/bacterial shampoo that replaced the Douxo Chlorhexidine PS, the most prescribed antifungal shampoo in Europe and the #1 recommended by US veterinarians.

You will have no doubt that you’re using an antifungal/bacterial pet shampoo of the highest quality. Even the fragrance smells like designer men’s cologne.

Is the S3 PYO significantly better?
The previous Douxo Chlorhexidine PS + Climbazole is already a top-flight antifungal shampoo with many loyal pet owners who swear by it. So it’d be dishonest to say that it’s drastically better.
That said, the S3 PYO is indeed better at restoring your pet’s skin. The treatment of fungal/yeast dermatitis is a 2-front battle. This shampoo controls the growth of fungi, on the one hand, and restores and protects your pet’s skin on the other. It is the latter that the S3 PYO has advanced, even though this effect may not be fully evident until a month or 2 later. That’s probably why we didn’t discover it at first.
As such, if you’ve gotten your pet’s infection under control with the older Douxo shampoo (or a different brand) but you and your beloved pet still can’t quite overcome it completely, the Douxo S3 PYO might be just what you need to get over the line.

What are the changes?
This is the first Douxo shampoo released after Ceva acquired Sogeval (original creator of Douxo). The new parent company is one of the largest in the world (veterinary products) and believes it has the resources to meaningfully improve the Douxo series.
With the S3 PYO, Ceva dropped climbazole and upgraded the skin barrier to OPHYTRIUM, published in scientific peer-reviewed studies as A97614A1. Ceva’s R&D found that climbazole was extraneous and OPHYTRIUM a major upgrade. It’s proven to restore all 3 phases of your pet’s skin barrier, including the microbiological and immunological, apart from the usual mechanical. Studies show that 3% chlorhexidine can reduce yeast/bacteria count by 56% after 3 weeks of use and OPHYTRIUM will do the rest to shield your pet from infection.

Does it work for all types of fungal infections?
It does. However, we prefer the Douxo S3 SEB for a specific type of fungal infection that causes perennial oily skin with a distinct odor that returns right after shampooing. Check our store for the S3 SEB.

Ceva recommends 1 pump (1.5ml) per 2kg, e.g., use 2 pumps to wash a 4kg cat or 10 pumps for a 20kg dog.

Should I get the 100ml repacked bottle?
Bottled from a new 500ml Douxo S3 PYO, it's a trial size to see if the shampoo works for your pet. You're getting the same shampoo but not the calibrated pump top.
