GRADE ONE :
To express oneself musically, or play a musical instrument, is a normal desire inherent in most
individuals. To encourage and stimulate that desire, this course was planned with two thoughts
uppermost in mind, namely Student interest and Progress. To quote a psychological axiom, "INTEREST
is the mother of ATTENTION and ATTENTION is the mother of MEMORY." In order to sustain the interest
of the student many pieces of melodic content are introduced. However, underlying each piece, is a
basic principle of piano technic. Note Reading Games, Rhythm Patterns, Explanatory Charts, Technical
Studies, Musical Dictionary, and many other features combine to give the student a thorough foundation.

GRADE TWO :
Original melodic material, especially composed to carry out a definite and progressive pedagogical plan. Easy
arrangements of the Masters to awaken a desire to know more of the great music literature.

To facilitate note reading, the student is asked to spell out words by writing the correct letter name of each
note, in specially designed tests. These have been extended to include leger lines and spaces. These little
games add interest to an important phase of music study.

The purpose and aim of this book is to build solidly on the foundation established in GRADE ONE, increase the
technical facility of the student, stimulate his appreciation of music, and serve as a reliable guide and
helpmate to the teacher.

GRADE THREE is an important milestone for the piano student. Having arrived at this point, after
mastering the early elementary stages, the student is looking forward with eager anticipation to
music of a more "serious" nature.

The natural uninterrupted progression and sequence, which characterized the first three grades
of this course, has been continued in GRADE FOUR.

GRADE FIVE is the opening to a veritable treasure chest of piano music. It is here that the many hours
of previous practice have given the student the opportunity to unlatch the door to greater achievement
and artistry. It is also here that the pupil's aspirations may receive a much needed impetus or on the
contrary prove to be a stumbling block on the road to further progress.
