The original composition of the hydrogel consists in the presence of glycerol, which extracts water from the ocular tissues, forming on the corneal surface an aqueous film which, in the presence of polyvinyl alcohol and sodium hyaluronate, is absorbed in the reticle of these polymeric substances. Thus a colloidal, viscous-elastic, very stable hydrogel forms able to absorb substances present in the colloid formulation granting its prolonged contact on the cornea and conjunctiva.

BRUVISCREEN contains N-methylbenzoquinoline methylsulphate a substance well known since decades, very well tolerated, with an excellent “physical” screening action versus UV rays, because it absorbs the ultra-violet radiations with wavelength comprised between 280 – 315 nm, which are the most dangerous for the ocular tissues.

This substance, included in the hydrogel which is the vehicle of the mentioned medical device, spreads uniformly in a thin viscous-elastic, mucous-mimetic, very stable film, which protects for a long time the ocular tissues from the harmful effects of UV rays of natural origin (sun, on the snow or on the sea) or artificial (tanning or germicidal lamps for sanitary use, photo-voltaic arch, etc.) relieving the eye after the stress.

Bruschettini is a private, independent company which manufactures and markets high quality pharmaceutical products. Bruschettini was founded in 1910 by Prof. Alessandro Bruschettini under the name “Laboratorio di Terapia Sperimentale” (Laboratory of Experimental Therapy).
