Maple sugar is made by sugar people to dig a hole in the trunk of the maple tree, maple juice will flow along the hole. The sugar maker heats the collected juice, evaporates most of the water and then produces the concentrated syrup.

Maple sugar contains 10 times more calcium than honey and only 1/10 of its sodium content. Scientists have found that natural phenols, a natural antioxidant, in maple sugar may have some effect on type 2 diabetes.

枫糖是由糖人在枫树树干上凿洞，枫树汁便会沿着洞口流出。制糖人将收集到的汁液加热，蒸发掉大部分水分后即得到浓缩的糖浆。

枫糖含钙量是蜂蜜的10倍而含钠量仅有其1/10。科学家发现枫糖中的天然苯酚（一种天然抗氧化剂）可能对2型糖尿病有一定效果。
