The powder helps to extend the life of the skin barrier/wafer.

It absorbs moisture while helping to prevent skin irritation.

Stomahesive forms a protective barrier that prevents leakage under the skin.

ConvaTec Stomahesive Protective Powder Features

Protects weepy and denuded skin around the stoma 

Absorbs moisture and becomes a gel which eventually crusts over 

Helps keep skin dry and prevent skin irritation

Ingredients are sodium carboxymethyl cellulose, pectin and gelatin

How To Use Stomahesive Powder?

Use Stomahesive Powder to dust onto the skin before placing your ostomy appliance onto your body.

It acts to protect the skin by absorbing moisture and extend wear time.

It is used when peristomal skin is raw and weepy.

The stomahesive powder will turn to a gel and slowly dry.

Note: it is not an adhesive.

The stomahesive powder can be used to "crust".

The crusting technique, in summary, is the process of applying ostomy powder and then dabbing it or spraying with a skin protective wipe or protective spray. Let dry and then apply your or 1-piece ostomy system. This technique has been used for decades and is not 100% guaranteed to improve skin health, but is considered a good option for ostomates struggling to improve their peristomal skin.
