Evening Primrose Oil is most recognized for promoting women’s health. Its effectiveness stems from an ingredient called gamma-linolenic acid, or GLA, and essential fatty acid thought to have anti-inflammatory or other healing powers. Evening Primrose Oil contains highly concentrated amounts of GLA unlike many other foods. When ingested, GLA is converted to prostaglandins, compounds that help regulate several bodily functions. Evening Primrose Oil may ease symptoms of several female problems including PMS, endometriosis, and fibrocystic breasts. In addition, Evening Primrose Oil may help provide relief for various skin conditions such as eczema, acne and rosacea. EPO reduces inflammation, controls how cells utilize nutrients and encourage the production of the beneficial type of prostaglandins, which promote contraction of blood vessels.
