Scientific Name：Perilla frutescens (L.) Britt.

English Name：Beefsteak plant，perilla mint，purple mint.

Malay Name：Pudina jepun.

Family & Genus：Lamiaceae，Perilla.

Pharmacology：Sedative，antifebrile，excitable-membrane-inhibiting，having effect on stomach & intestine，atitussive，phlegm-removing，bleeding-arresting，anti-coagulation，blood-sugar-lifting，immunity-influencing，anti-mutagenesis，anti-microbial. 

Properties：Acrid taste. Warm in nature. 

Benefits：Disperse cold & release exterior syndrome，ventilate lung & remove phlegm，activate qi circulation & harmonize stomach，detoxify fish & crab poisons.

Indications：

·Constipation

·Chronic bronchitis

·Nausea & vomiting

·Intestinal distension

·Fish & crab poisoning

·Cough & excessive phlegm

·Abdominal pain & diarrhea

·Wind-cold & exterior syndrome**

*Those with qi deficiency & warm disease are refrained from consumption.


**TCM views cough, sore throat, cold and flu, and sinusitis as caused by Wind pathogen invading the exterior of the body, together with either cold or heat. The exterior includes the skin and the muscles, the nose, mouth, and upper respiratory tract.


Preparation：

·1 sachets tea bag each time. One or twice daily. 

·Steep a tea bag in 200ml boiled water for 10 minutes. 

·Each tea bag may rebrewed 2-3 times，or until light taste.

药理作用：镇静，解热，兴奋性膜抑制作用，对胃肠道的作用，止咳平喘祛痰，止血，抗凝血，升高血糖，对免疫功能的影响，抗诱变作用，抗微生物。

性味：味辛；性温。

功能：散寒解表，宣肺化痰，行气和胃，解鱼蟹毒。

适用于：

·便秘

·肠胀满

·风寒表证

·咳嗽痰多

·恶心呕吐

·腹痛吐泻

·鱼蟹中毒

·慢性支气管炎

*温病及气虚者忌服。


用法：

·每次一包茶袋，每日1包～2包。

·将茶袋浸泡于200毫升沸水，10分钟后即可饮用。

·每个茶袋可重复冲泡2-3次，或直至淡味为止。
