The first step in choosing a tablecloth is to measure the table and determine the desired amount of drop or overhang. Overhang refers to the fabric that elegantly hangs over the edges of the table.

To determine the overall dimensions of the tablecloth, add the table's dimensions to twice the chosen drop length.

- For a relaxed appearance, an overhang of 6 to 10 inches on all sides is appropriate.
