HOW TO CHOOSE A TABLE RUNNER SIZE 

The length of a dining table runner isn't set in stone and largely depends on personal preference. A shorter runner can be used to accentuate a centerpiece, while a longer one should ideally extend slightly over the table's ends, avoiding contact with seats or seated guests. A good guideline is to have it hang at least six inches over each end of your table but not droop below the level of your tablecloth.

If your table runner features tassels, it should be longer than the table's length so that the tassels drape down rather than rest on the table's surface. Additionally, a table runner can also double as a decorative bed runner to enhance the appearance of your bed.
